Poppies

Recently I made with my family some poppies. We used black pipe cleaners, scrap red card and a red reusable warehouse bag. We cut a variety of circles and threaded the pipe cleaner to try resemble the poppies shape. I think they ended up beautiful because their are such a diverse range of them. Big or small. Then we presented them in vase. They look great.

  1. Hello Sophia
I like the texture of the warehouse shopping bags, they look very similar to the poppies we buy prior to Anzac day. They look good grouped together Soph, what was the trickiest part of their construction.
Do you know how the symbol of a poppy came to be associated with Anzac Day?
We plan to commemorate the day too, and will definitely bake Anzac biscuits.
    Well done

  2. Hi Mrs Bennett,
I think that the trickiest part was threading the pipe cleaner through the material. Poppies are accociated with world war one because they were a common site. Thank you for the comment. Bye, Sophia
