Writing Inquiry/ Vincent Van Gogh

I chose Vincent Van Gogh because I wanted to study some form of painting art. Vincent came to the top of my mind because he created one of my favourite art pieces ‘ The Starry Night’. The best part was researching because I found out a lot of new facts about him. If I did this again I probably would have worked on my writing. Maybe adding more detail in my sentences, to make it very clear. But other than that I am quite proud of how I presented this piece of art work. The hardest bit was summarising information off google into my own words. In the end I came out with some great information and enjoyed the whole experience. Can you believe that Vincent Van Gogh cut his own ear off?

Reading Visual Poster-Mt Tongariro

Mt Tongariro Reading Visual Poster: I chose Mt Tongariro because it was a New Zealand mountain, and I wanted know a bit more about it. I am proud of how I presented it, because it replicates Mt Tongariro, in an effective way. If I did this again I would have more of the key information on the poster. The hardest part was summarising the information into my own words. The learning goal: To summarise the key information out of the journal, and put into your own words.

Writing-Buffalo

Adrenalin Writing ( Buffalo): This was a fun activity, because it set lots of challenges, like keeping the writing in the same tense. We brainstormed to help get ideas on paper. I don't usually like brainstorming, but it really helped getting ideas down, to create a great story. The hardest part was ending the story, because it is supposed to be a quick write, but I never wanted to stop. LG:To use your imagination and base the story on a video, that we watched. LG: Keep the descriptive writing in the right tense.

Annabel Langbein - chef

Annabel Langbein: I found out lots of information about Annabel Langbein, and really enjoyed presenting my work in a fun way.
Now I have some great ideas if I ever wanted to be a cook.
I enjoyed researching and learning more about Annabel Langbein.
Next time I will work on my presentation, so that everything isn't squashed up.
Our Learning Goal:Collect and summarize key information about your chosen artist, and present it in an effective way.

Profile

My name is Sophia, I live in a family of four, with one brother and my parents.   I live on a sheep and beef farm in Matawai. We have a boat and every holiday we travel to Lake Rotoiti and go fishing and water skiing. Usually when we are in Rotorua we do something fun like the luge. I go to Matawai School, I am a year 6, in Room 4 and have the best teachers and principle. I travel to and from school on a bus. I enjoy living on a farm getting muddy and adventuring.

At school my favourite subject is writing, because I love adrenalin, fast and descriptive sentences. My goal for this year is working on my editing, and different sentence structures. I challenge myself to keep up the good writing. One of my other goals is to be able to write a short descriptive summary that hooks the reader to want to read that book. A maths goal is to use multiplication and division facts, in fraction problems.

This year I am looking forward to school camp as we are going to Wellington. I enjoy hunting, horse riding, hockey and riding motor bikes.
Gemma Flynn former Blackstick inspires me because she is very similar to me in hockey, as we both are midfielders. In October we take our lambs to the AMP Show in Gisborne to be judged in best dressed and and non dressed. I have won Champion lamb  twice. I am also looking forward to pets day at school. I have won that twice with my lamb and once for my calf.
